About K2 Teachers

Kara Shelley LIDTA

Miss Kara, as she is known to the pupils, established K2 Dance Academy in 2007 fulfilling a lifetime ambition of setting up a Dancing School.

Kara first took to the dance floor aged 3 and soon fell in love with dancing going on to train in Ballet, Tap, Theatre Craft, Modern Jazz, Ballroom, Latin and Disco.

She went on to participate in many performances and competitions, gaining a number of medals and dancing in productions at the Nottingham Theatre Royal, Royal Concert Hall and Nottingham Playhouse Theatre.

Kara began working as a teaching assistant in 1998 and gained her first teaching qualification in 2005. Kara is a Licentiate member of the IDTA and holds a number teaching qualifications with the IDTA as well as Acrobatic Arts and Progressing Ballet Technique.

After taking some time out to start a family Kara established K2 Dance Academy, which first opened its door in January 2007 in Ruddington. The Dance Academy has since gone from strength to strength from the original 3 classes a week, to the current timetable.


Amy Kalwa, AIDTA: Miss Amy has been working with K2 for many years and has danced since childhood. Amy went on to qualify at associate level with the IDTA . Miss Amy started her time with K2 as a assistant in our Baby Ballet classes and have come through the ranks and is now responsible for teaching beginners Ballet & Theatre Craft and our Riverdancers.

Amy Greaves BA PGCE: Miss Amy G teachers Street, Cheer, Contemporary and Musical Theatre at K2 Dance Academy. Amy has an impressive Dance CV,  teaching at Dance Schools, Colleges and workshops all over the country and has been teaching for many years. Amy gained a BA Hons in Dance at University and has continued to study Urban dance styles. Miss Amy a a great asset and brings the Urban edge to K2.

Amy Taylor AIDTA: Amy is a qualified IDTA dance teacher and has been dancing sine she was a young girl. Amy has trained in Ballroom and Theatre Dance styles and teaches for a number of dance schools in the South Nottinghamshire area. Miss Amy teacher a wide range of both children’s and adult classes at K2 Dance Academy.

Hannah Keogh: Miss Hannah is the newest member of the K2 Team. Hannah come to K2 from years of performing on Cruise ships all over the world. Hannah studied dance at university in Liverpool before embarking on her professional dancing career. Hannah teachers at a number of dance schools and sports academies throughout Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

Class Assistants:

A number of our older pupils help the teachers in our Beginners and Preparatory children’s classes. We encourage our older pupils to set a good example to our youngest pupils and they build their confidence through this experience.
